Academic Standing Policy

A student is considered to be in Good Academic Standing if they have an institutional grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher.

A student with a total institutional GPA less than 2.0 will be placed on academic intervention until the total institutional GPA is 2.0 or higher. The student must complete an Academic Improvement Plan (AIP) under guidance of an assigned university official (a Success Coach).

The Success Coach does not replace your Academic Advisor; rather, your Success Coach will provide guidance toward your overall academic success. Your Academic Advisor will still help you to navigate courses and registration.

In addition, Georgia Southern 1000 is required for students on Academic Intervention. In Georgia Southern 1000, students will become familiar with the academic policies of the university and work with their assigned Academic Success Coach to create and implement a semester plan for academic improvement. This course is a 0-credit hour class that is to be repeated as long as students have an institutional GPA less than 2.0.

For more information, please refer to the Academic Standing Policy.
